Dedicated Public and Corporate Commissions

  • Mayor Ed Lee Portrait (bas relief), San Francisco International Airport, International Terminal, commissioned by the San Francisco Arts Commission, the artist created a five foot by five-foot bronze bas relief of the Mayor backdropped with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Dedicated Spring of 2022.
  • Tribute to Shirley Povich and Walter Johnson, Shirley Povich Baseball Field, Cabin John Maryland. The hall of fame journalist and baseball player being interviewed. Two life-size bronze figures, dedicated 2021
  • B.B. King Memorial, B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, Indianola, Mississippi, A Life-size bronze figure of B.B. King and Lucille seated on a bench.  Mendez was commissioned by the museum to create a life-size portrait.  The figure is installed looking towards his place of rest at the museum and in his home town of Indianola, MS, the sculpture was dedicated in June 2021.
  •  Thomas Kennedy Memorial, Hagerstown, Maryland, A seven and half foot tall bronze figure and a small garden plaza, this memorial recognizes the Maryland Politician who fought for Religious freedom, for the rights of Jews to hold public office and positions.  Dedicated 2019
  • Maggie Lena Walker Memorial Park, Richmond, Virginia, A Ten foot bronze figure and three bronze bas     reliefs. Mendez collaborated with VHB Architects and Engineers to design a 6000 square ft. plaza and memorial in honor of Civil Rights leader, first African American woman to charter a bank. 2017
